Made to feel like home.
A quiet morning by the water. A table with room for everyone. A favorite chair you never want to leave. We design for these moments, bringing character and comfort to new homes, renovations, and furnishings at Smith Mountain Lake.
Led by Mary Kate Gaines, our studio brings a personal eye and thoughtful guidance to every decision. We work with homeowners at Smith Mountain Lake, in Roanoke, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and the surrounding communities.

Mary Kate Gaines
OWNER & PRINCIPAL DESIGNER
Mary Kate founded In Focus Interiors in 2021 with a simple belief: a beautiful home should feel personal and comfortable. She starts by getting to know you—your routines, your favorite things, and what could work better. Her approach is hands-on, collaborative, and attentive to the details that make a home yours.

A FEW THINGS YOU MAY BE WONDERING
A little clarity,
before we begin.
Where do you offer interior design services?
We design homes at Smith Mountain Lake and work with homeowners in Roanoke, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and surrounding communities. Tell us where your home is located when you inquire.
What does full-service design include?
We guide your project through concept and detailed design, then manage purchasing, vendor coordination, logistics, and installation. We establish the scope and an initial investment framework at the beginning, with selections and proposals prepared for your approval.
Can I get help with a smaller design project?
Alongside full-service projects, we offer a limited number of virtual design projects and focused consultations. Share the decisions you need help with so we can explore the right fit.
How do I get started?
Complete our project questionnaire to introduce your home and what you have in mind. You do not need to have every design decision made before reaching out.
